I hope you are enjoying the long Fourth of July weekend, spending time with family and friends in celebration and reflection on our nation’s history.

As I reflect on that history, I’m reminded of how far we’ve come and the people who got us to where we are today. We are indebted to their vision and faith that a better future is possible. But if there’s anything these past few weeks have shown us, it’s that the struggle for freedom continues.

The far-right majority on the Supreme Court is unhinged and ruling with reckless abandon, and our democracy continues to be threatened by the extreme right-wing Republican party.

But I’m not giving up and I won’t back down, john. I’m going to keep working to pass bills that protect abortion access everywhere, tackle the climate crisis, expand the Supreme Court, abolish the filibuster, and restore our democracy.

So today, as you celebrate our revolutionary beginnings, I humbly ask that you join me in recommitting to the important work ahead.
