Right now there is a bill in the House that is expected to be voted on THIS FRIDAY that would restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act – but we need your support to get it across the finish line.
Today, thousands of advocates across the country are participating in a national day of action for the VRAA, to urge their representatives to protect us from the harmful voting measures that have been passed across the country. Throughout the past several years, Republicans around the country have made it increasingly difficult to vote: by restricting voting hours, implementing unnecessary provisions that restrict access to the polling booth, purging thousands of active and eligible voters from the rolls, and more.
Thankfully, the VRAA would restore the federal government’s authority to review changes made to voting laws – before they go into effect – in states with a history of voter suppression to ensure that they don’t disproportionately prevent people of color, the elderly, and youth voters from casting their ballots.
