Today is a reminder of the challenges our nation faced – and overcame – to win our freedom, establish independence, and build a country Americans can be proud of.

We remain the shining city on the hill, but we must be vigilant in protecting what has made America so great: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. 

As you and your family celebrate this patriotic holiday, I hope we can remember the values America was founded on.
