Happy 4th, John.

Today, Americans across the country will gather in shared community and embrace those we hold dear. As we gather around the grills, swimming pools, and fireworks, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what Independence Day means for us all.

The last few years have truly been unprecedented. We’re on the mend from a global pandemic, but as we stand today, our rights are being stripped away by the Supreme Court and a radicalized GOP. Furthermore, too many have yet to see the equality and justice that the 4th of July represents.

So, John, I hope we all take today to reflect on not only our independence but that of every American, no matter their background, color, or creed. We have a major fight ahead of us this November, but together, I know we can create the equality and justice we need for all.
