Happy Independence Day, John!

Our glorious country remains strong and independent, but as recent history has shown, freedom is never guaranteed. Our communities will not truly be free until each and every American can enjoy the most fundamental rights of our democracy: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

That is precisely why the fight for our freedom is an ongoing project we must choose to work toward 365 days a year. We must work together every day to help out our neighbors and ensure that Equality Before the Law remains the rule — not the exception — here in Nebraska.

From the freedom to make our own health care decisions, to the freedom to go to the grocery store in safety, to the freedom to make our voices heard at the ballot box, we all deserve full access to our founding fathers’ promises of liberty.
