Happy Independence Day!
Our democracy is more at risk than it has been at any other point in my lifetime, and this defining moment is what inspires me to run our campaign for change. I am a proud patriot who will always stand for our democratic ideals of freedom, liberty, equality, and justice for all. There is so much on the line right now. We cannot step away from this difficult moment in America. I am more driven than ever to help our country be her best and strongest self.
In the last several weeks, we’ve learned more about the devastating January 6th attack on the Capitol — an attack that struck the very core of what makes America who we are. We’ve also endured a devastating period plagued with gun violence and the loss of our constitutionally-protected right to abortion care.
But I still, and will always, believe in the best of America. Being an American means standing up for what is right, even when things seem most dark.
That’s how I live my life, how I’m guiding our campaign, and how I’ll lead in Congress every day.
I’m running to bring honest, effective, hard-working, and collaborative leadership back to the First because Marylanders deserve to be represented by a real patriot who is committed to America, not an extremist who refuses to put country over party.
I hope you and your loved ones are able to spend time together today to honor our country. We have been tested as a nation before. As we celebrate her birthday, let us recommit ourselves to bringing forth the best of America, and for a brighter future for all.
