Social Security has been an American institution for nearly a century. Through Democratic and Republican administrations, wars, recessions, and scandals, our Social Security system has paid every benefit on time and in full. But if Republicans get their way, Social Security will be gone in just 5 years.

Things are dark right now―but we have reasons for hope. The extremist Supreme Court is trying to repeal the whole 20th Century. The Republican nominee to the Social Security advisory board is a veteran of George W. Bush’s attempt to privatize the system. Marco Rubio wants to raid Social Security to give time off to women forced to give birth by Roe v. Wade’s repeal. Rick Scott wants all federal laws―including Social Security and Medicare―to expire in 5 years. It’s daunting―but we can win. Take a quick look at this puppy and then I’ll explain how:

Polls show that Americans of all political affiliations love Social Security and Medicare, and want to see them expanded. Bernie Sanders’s Social Security Expansion Act is the only bill in the Senate that offers a path to protecting Social Security for at least 75 years―and it has wide support from Democrats. The American people are with us―we just have to make sure they hear us.
