| Pride month is over, but connection with PFLAG National and our partners continues all year long. Our offices are closed today for the holiday, but we've got some great opportunities coming up in the week ahead, including taking action to protect reproductive health. And, because we could all use a little joy, a fun episode of Something to Talk About Live! celebrating International Drag Day. | | | | | Support PFLAG Connects: Communities--Upcoming Meetings PFLAG Connects: Communities provides a safe, virtual, facilitated space where people with shared experiences can connect each month. Our current communities gather people of Latino, Black/African American, and Asian American and Pacific Islander backgrounds to gain support, ask questions, and learn from others who have been through similar experiences. Our Latino and Black/African American communities have meetings coming up in July, and our next AAPI meeting is coming up in early August. Learn more and encourage others to join by registering at pflag.org/connects/communities. | | | | | | | Advocacy Take Back Our Reproductive Freedom Last week, the Supreme Court overturned five decades of settled precedent and took away the constitutional federal right to an abortion. We at PFLAG National know just how critical it is to protect the right to reproductive health, including the right to abortion. Studies indicate that when people don’t have access to abortion they can experience educational decline, greater mental health problem rates, and economic loss. Reproductive healthcare must be available for everyone, whether you were assigned female at birth, are intersex, cisgender, or transgender. It is critical that our elected leaders step up and take action. Call your Senators and tell them to advance legislation to protect reproductive rights by passing legislation like the Women's Health Protection Act, and the EACH Act. Inaction is not an option. Tell your Senators to defend our rights NOW! | | | | | Something to Talk About...Live! Legends of Drag International Drag Day, an annual celebration of all things drag on July 16, was founded in 2009 by Adam Stewart to honor drag performers and thank them for their ongoing impact on queer culture. Commemorated with performances, educational events, and more International Drag day is an opportunity for us all to learn more about “all those fierce queens right through to the butch kings.” Join us this Thursday, July 7th at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live! where we will be discussing “Celebrating ‘Legends’ Who Catwalk Among Us", which appeared in the New York Times by Christopher Barnard. We're excited to welcome to the conversation Harry James Hanson, co-author of the book Legends of Drag: Queens of a Certain Age. You can watch live on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
