We Americans can thank our lucky stars for living in the greatest experiment in human liberty and freedom the world has ever known. The American Founding was as astonishing as it was improbable. The Framers wrote a Constitution designed to reign in government so that citizens would enjoy maximum freedom and check its impulse to control. The farmer, cobbler, lawyer and seaman all became citizen warriors against an ancient tyranny and won. Since then, our form of government has been emulated by new democracies throughout the world. Those seeking opportunity and safety have dreamt of moving to America. This Fourth of July, I remember our history and feel tremendous pride in my citizenship. As a child who escaped to this country from Communist Cuba, I know how blessed I am to live in the greatest country in the world, but I also know that we must fight to keep this nation great, to protect our freedom, and to stand up for our God-given rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Despite the waving flags, patriotic banners, and firework celebrations, this Independence Day, many are worried and frankly fed up with the direction our country is headed. Families are struggling to afford necessities like food for their table or gas for their car. Dick Blumenthal’s votes in the Senate for the trillions of dollars of wasteful spending by the Biden Administration have created inflation and a looming recession, the worst possible of economic circumstances. The Biden Administration, with Senator Blumenthal’s approval, has created and encouraged an invasion at our Southern Border. They call rioters “peaceful protesters” and condone the criminals terrorizing our streets without consequences. CT Families don’t feel safe in their own communities. This is not the America we want for ourselves nor for our children. Thanks to Joe Biden and Dick Blumenthal’s attack on the energy sector, America is anything but independent. We are relying on foreign oil and groveling for more from our enemies. No American should be subjected to these prices when we have the reserves and ability right here in the United States to secure our own energy independence. When it comes to food scarcity, never in my life did I think I would bear witness to a reversal of the 1948-49 Berlin Airlift with Germany having to come to our rescue in 2022, providing American families with the formula their babies need to survive. This will be a dark stain on Biden’s legacy. History will record Biden’s callousness and inability to address and correct on the supply chain crisis. I am running to defeat Blumenthal and to secure our independence again because we need leaders in Washington who are not going to shrug their shoulders and allow the price of gas to bankrupt families or mothers to panic when they see empty shelves. Independence Day is a reminder to residents to achieve personal independence from a Government that is not responsive to the people. We the People can do that at the polls in November. We the People will send a message to the Biden Administration that his policies are failing by ending career politician Dick Blumenthal’s time in the Senate. Gone will be the days where our children are taught Critical Race Theory and falsehoods about our nation’s history. In its place will be a return to the fundamentals of education and inclusion of American Exceptionalism in the classroom. After November’s red wave, families will remember who prioritized families and taxpayers over wasteful government spending and who made sure foreign leaders and career politicians were not lining their pockets at the expense of the American People. My friends, the loss of our American Independence would make our Founding Fathers feel ashamed if they saw how our national Government has put itself first instead of We the People. Independence Day is about having the courage to stand firm in our beliefs and defend the freedoms guaranteed to us by the U.S. Constitution and so eloquently put in the Declaration of Independence. Today, we remember: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. Together we will fire the politicians who embrace failing Marxist policies and defend our Constitutional Republic, so future generations can raise a family and be happy and prosperous in the land of the free and home of the brave.
