John – Today, we celebrate our country and recommit to achieving the promise of our great nation: life, liberty, and justice for all. 

It's particularly crucial to uphold these ideals during this dark moment for our country – a moment in which radicals are attacking our basic freedoms: reproductive choice, marriage equality, voting rights.

While this is a difficult chapter in our nation's history, let us remember that every day, we are working toward a future where the freedoms once promised by our founding fathers are more accessible to every American regardless of your race, gender, or background.

I will never stop fighting for a country where everyone is free – and today, I celebrate the generations of New Mexico leaders before me who have boldly fought for progress, the service members who have defended our country, and the advocates who are joining me in the fight for freedom right now. 

I hope you join me in celebrating the promise of our country today, alongside your loved ones and your fellow Americans.
