Last week was a huge step toward full legalization of cannabis in Minnesota. We can't let up now though.

It's critical that we continue to push for full legalization, regulation and, most importantly, for expungement of past marijuana offenses. The war on drugs left many scars on our communities, it's important that we work to heal those as we move toward full legalization.

Add you name now and join Ryan in keeping the pressure on the legislature to pass his bill to fully legalize, regulate and expunge past offenses during the next legislative session. act.myngp.com/Forms/3607392488198047488

Subject: a big win, but not full legalization

John -

Beginning today, Minnesotans who are 21 or older can start buying edibles and beverages that contain THC. We fought hard for this legislation, as it improves oversight and strengthens protections over the cannabis market. Let me be clear: This is not legalization, but it's a step toward a safe, regulated market for cannabis.

There's still a lot to do here:

Expunge criminal records of marijuana offenses

Protect MN businesses from corporate takeovers of the market

Invest tax revenue back into communities

The criminalization of cannabis has caused significant racial disparities in our criminal justice system, especially here in Hennepin County. The higher criminalization of minority communities must be stopped, but outdated cannabis restrictions have also been harmful for veterans and other Minnesotans trying to access cannabis for therapeutic reasons.

Full cannabis legalization continues to be blocked by GOP lawmakers, despite its popularity. I will remain a vocal advocate for legalization as County Attorney and will ensure my office declines to prosecute low-level cannabis crimes.

We can get to full legalization, but we have to keep fighting. If you're with us, add your name to this petition in support of full cannabis legalization in our state.

Sincerely,
Ryan
