John – I've always wanted to be a nurse. Yes, that's me, beaming in my nurse costume with my mother at my side.
I have always known who I wanted to be: a servant to others. I grew up knowing that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
That's what inspired me to go to nursing school, to care for my patients, to help children who have all the odds stacked against them, and to use my good fortune to make the world a better place than how I found it.
I'm proud to say that my life has been a life of service – as a nurse, volunteer, advocate, mom, and neighbor. And now I am ready to serve as your U.S. Senator.
As a Senator, I'll work my heart out to make life better for American families. I'll push for legislation to protect our reproductive freedoms, defend ballot access, expand protections for our unions, curb gun violence, and end the opioid epidemic. When others lead with division, greed, and partisanship, I'll choose honesty, integrity, and compassion every single time.
There are plenty of lawyers in Washington, John. The Senate could sure use a nurse for a change. So please, will you chip in a grassroots donation so that I can serve this country as the first nurse ever elected to the Senate? I'll only have the support I need to win on Election Day if we build a powerful grassroots movement right now.
