We hope you’re enjoying your Independence Day weekend!

We’re super psyched about the video we’re about to show you, featuring Lea Thompson of Back to the Future fame!

We’ll tell you all about it in a moment – but first, can we ask you to chip in to help us make sure it gets seen in all the right places?

We’re really proud of this video, which we believe will cut through some of the right-wing media noise and reach rural and working-class voters with messaging that validates their most deeply held American values and shows them that Democrats not only share those values, but fight for policies that make it easier to live them to the fullest.

We were inspired by political focus group research showing that regardless of what part of the United States they live in, rural and working-class voters repeatedly identified just a handful of common values as being the ones that motivate them when deciding their votes:

• Freedom
• Self-determination
• Hard work
• Fairness
• Unity over division

That’s why our video frames Democratic ideals like marriage equality, public funding for higher education, gun safety reform, universal healthcare, a mandatory living wage, higher taxes for billionaires, and fairer immigration laws in terms of how they enhance folks’ individual freedoms and foster unity between Americans.
