Dear John,
Right now, some politicians in Washington are using record national debt and high inflation as an excuse to launch a full-scale assault on your earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. Everything is on the table, from benefit cuts and changes to the eligibility ages of Social Security and Medicare to privatization.
That’s why I need you to send a powerful message right now to your elected officials in Washington reminding them that older Americans will not stand for any cuts or harmful “reforms” to our earned benefits.
Even as millions of older Americans like you are struggling to afford basic needs like food and prescription drugs as a result of record high inflation, this isn’t stopping some politicians from threatening to cut your earned benefits.
Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) has confirmed that if Republicans take control of Congress in the upcoming election, they will focus on “entitlement reform,” including Social Security privatization. Of course, when he says “entitlement reform” he means cutting your earned benefits.
At a time when more than half of all workers have no retirement plans at work and millions more have little or no retirement savings, benefits must be improved — not cut — to protect the growing share of seniors who depend on the program for all or most of their retirement income.
So please sign our urgent Petition to Congress TODAY. And join with your fellow Americans in reminding your elected members of Congress why it’s so important to protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare — programs that have been the bedrock of America’s middle and working classes — and reject proposals that could tear them down.
Sincerely,
|
