President Trump was right – we aren’t tired of winning! This week, the Supreme Court delivered another blow to the Biden Administration, ruling that radical climate change proposals passed under President Obama, which President Biden attempted to revive, were an overreach of executive authority.

What does that mean for you? Well, Congressional Republicans now have more power to fight for an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy, which will keep your electricity on and your energy bills from skyrocketing even more than they already have.

The Supreme Court limited the executive branch’s power to regulate carbon emissions, a key part of Biden’s long-term climate agenda. Though, it was not the policies themselves that fell under scrutiny; rather, it was the way they came about. The Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not have the power to enact sweeping regulations on power plants’ carbon emissions. Instead, these rules must be submitted to Congress to go through the legislative process.

In short, Biden is no longer the climate king. He now has to answer to the people, who overwhelmingly reject his green new deal proposals. With this ruling, your voice and the balance of powers were restored.

This case paves the way for future rulings in favor of states’ rights when it comes to environmental policy. In fact, it was West Virginia that first brought this suit, with Georgia and others signing on, claiming that their power to dictate climate policies was being stripped away.

I agree. That’s why I signed a “friend of the court,” or amicus, brief arguing that exact position. And I’ll argue it again tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that, because we don’t need unelected federal bureaucrats making radical climate decisions for Georgia.

Folks, elections have consequences. The Supreme Court isn’t issuing historic wins for freedom and states’ rights by accident. It is because conservative presidents nominated strong, conservative justices who are fighting for you.

The Constitution is absolute, but so is the Democrats’ resolve to undermine it. We cannot take these rulings for granted and must wake up, every day, ready to defend our country against those who wish her, and her values, harm.

Monday, June 27th: Last week, we passed H.R. 7666, the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well Being Act of 2022, a bipartisan bill that will dedicate resources to mental and behavioral health with a particular focus on young people and schools. During the pandemic that we have all suffered through, we have been closed up and often isolated. This put a spotlight on mental health in our country, which we know needs to be addressed. Recent tragedies in Uvalde, TX and Buffalo, NY have shown us the need for mental health services. We know that no one in their right mind could possibly commit these atrocious acts. On Saturday, I witnessed first-hand the urgent need for mental health services in our country. While participating in the Rincon Freedom Rings parade, a motorist started driving against the parade route in a black SUV at a high rate of speed weaving in and out and sending marchers scrambling and endangering the lives of participants and spectators. Thanks to the courageous work of the Rincon police department and God’s mercy, the motorist was stopped, and no one was seriously injured. And, as a testament to the fortitude and resilience of the citizens of Rincon and this great country, the parade went on.

On Sunday, I was honored to speak at the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) annual convention held at the Savannah Convention Center. After our all staff conference call this morning, I head to the University of Georgia Skidaway Institute of Oceanography on Skidaway Island near Savannah where I have a great visit and tour led by Director Clark Alexander. With a mission to conduct research in all fields of oceanography, this great facility is performing state of the art research with laboratories and instrumentation as well as the 92-foot Research Vessel Savannah. We are truly blessed in the First District to have this world class facility in our area.

Afterwards, I head to downtown Savannah where I have a great visit with my good friend Stan Allen and Savannah legendary boxer Zeke Wilson, author of the book “The Eighth Round.” Stan and Zeke are collaborating on a short film based on Zeke’s book that details his storied boxing career and his most challenging match ever, the one against same-race discrimination.

Next, I head to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, where I meet with Jerry McLaughlin, a volunteer who is composing a history of the museum and is interested in my experiences while serving as Mayor of the City of Pooler during the opening of the museum.

Wednesday, June 29th: I’m on the road early this morning and headed to the Three Rivers Regional Library in Ludowici where I meet with a great group of students from Long County High School to hear about a peer counseling program they are interested in forming. Afterwards, I have the honor of reading to area students participating in the library’s summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and I get to read a great book, Inky the Octopus, the true story of an octopus that escaped an aquarium and fled to the ocean.

While at the library, I join in virtually on an Energy and Commerce (E&C) Health Subcommittee hearing on public health before heading to Waycross in Ware County where I attend the Stewart Candy Company pre-Fourth of July luncheon. I am honored to present this family-owned business with a proclamation from the U.S. House of Representatives recognizing their 100 years in business, along with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor.

Next, I head to the Ware County Chamber of Commerce offices where I camp out for the next couple of hours and participate in virtual meetings. My first virtual meeting is with the Lupus Foundation of America that included the personal testimony of a constituent from Savannah who suffers from the disease.

Next, I have a virtual interview with A Starting Point to discuss schools and gun violence followed by an interview with Fox 28 News in Savannah to discuss the Supreme Court’s (SCOTUS) recent decision affirming the right to life. After an interview with WJCL TV in Savannah to discuss protecting life, I have an interview with the Savannah Morning News (SMN) to discuss the same subject.

After a virtual meeting with Zerik Samples with the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, I head back to Pooler and, during the drive, join in on an E&C member briefing on the privacy bill that we are considering.  

Friday, July 1st: I’m up early and on Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to discuss inflation, the southern border, and other news of the day.

Afterwards, I have a radio interview on the John Fredericks show as we discuss news of the day before having a virtual interview with WJCL-TV in Savannah to discuss the $2.6 million infrastructure appropriations that we were able to secure for Tybee Island in Chatham County that will address severe flooding.

Later in the afternoon, I head to Wayne County where the City of Screven is holding a music and fireworks celebration. Even with some inclement weather, the sites and sounds of small-town America celebrating our Country’s birthday are truly inspiring.
