"On July 1, this year, let’s look at our country – now one of the
most diverse on the planet – honestly and fairly. While we consider
how we can improve our governance, protections, and rights, there is
much for which we should be grateful."
Here is a
word from our chair, Gail Adelson-Marcovitz, on Canada
day.
CIJA was proud to be among the over 75 people who marched as part
of the Toronto Jewish #LGBTQ2S+ community delegation at last Sunday’s
parade for Pride Toronto.
After a two-year-long hiatus, hundreds of thousands of revelers
attended the parade downtown, marking the return of in-person
festivities for the annual LGBTQ2S+ celebration.
On Thursday, the Governor General announced the June 2022
appointees to the Order of Canada.
Once again, the Jewish community is well represented in this
illustrious list of Canadians, including Joel Reitman, C.M., immediate
past co-Chair of CIJA, who was appointed as a Member to the Order of
Canada.
Joel has been a wonderful leader, a devoted member of the CIJA
board and a passionate advocate for Israel, and the Jewish community.
He has made exceptional contributions to Canadian society as a
philanthropist, and was also recognized for his support of leading
neurological institutes.
We invite you to learn about all the appointees here.
