Dear John,
Since Cassidy Hutchinson testified at the January 6 hearings on Tuesday, the bombshells are still reverberating.
I have a few takeaways from the hearings thus far that I want to make sure are clear among the salacious details that have come to light:
-
We have proof that Donald Trump and his closest cronies — including Rudy Giuliani — made coordinated attempts to pressure numerous state election officials to decertify their election results. There were even proposed plans for Trump to install a new attorney general who would use the powers of the Department of Justice to overturn state results.
- A number of GOP members of Congress went along with Trump’s plans to overturn the election and fanned the flames of insurrection. We learned many of them would later ask for presidential pardons, indicating they knew they were guilty.
- Mark Meadows’ chief of staff, Cassidy Hutchinson, gave us a clear picture of the Oval Office leading up to and during January 6, painting Trump as an out-of-control tyrant who knew supporters at his rally were armed and actively wanted them to storm the Capitol, even asking for metal detectors to be removed so weapons could be taken into the rally.
-
Trump made a conscious decision to keep the violence of January 6 going, despite being implored by his family, advisers, and friends to stop the madness. He believed the violence was justified and even agreed that his own vice president deserved to be hanged for certifying the 2020 election results.
- The January 6 committee raised serious concerns that Donald Trump or his allies may be tampering with the testimony of witnesses participating in its congressional inquiry. One unnamed witness described receiving phone calls in which they were pressured by Trump or one of his associates. “What they said to me is as long as I continue to be a team player, they know I’m on the right team,” the unnamed witness said. “I’m doing the right thing. I’m protecting who I need to protect, you know, I’ll continue to stay in good graces in Trump World.”
So what now? That really depends on us. There is plenty of evidence raising legal issues for Trump and his accomplices, and we need to make sure that the public knows this so the Department of Justice presses forward with indictments.
Will you make a donation to help support our work to continue to get the truth about January 6 to the American people?
Witness tampering, coercion of election officials, fake electors — all of these elements revealed during the January 6 committee hearings thus far point to possible legal liability for Trump and others involved.
But whether the Department of Justice is willing to act and hold them to account remains to be seen.
The DoJ will respond to a public outcry — however, for that to happen, we need as many people as possible to understand the takeaways I’ve listed here. And not only were the hearings held during the workday, Fox News viewers purposely tuned them out.
Our research tells us that our explainer videos attract viewers across party lines, and our content is on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat, allowing us to grab the attention of users of all ages, backgrounds, and political persuasions. That positions us perfectly to defeat the pitfalls of other media like Fox News.
We can do this work only with the support of people like you, John. The more money we raise, the farther across the Internet, and aisle, we can reach. Trump and his cronies must be held accountable, and to ensure that happens, the truth about January 6 must reach millions of people.
