 This year, during our second annual Legislation Day in Victoria, members met with 47 MLAs, 17 Ministers and held 21 meetings all in one day, a significant and appreciated feat of advocacy! This showing means our members met with almost 75% of the provincial legislature — to achieve affordable, available and professionally built homes. In particular, members shared the importance of the Development Approvals Process Review report and discussed member perspectives related to prompt payment legislation across their meetings.
A thank you to all participants who joined us on another successful year at the legislature ensuring the voices of members across the province were heard by legislators and policymakers.

November Advocacy Update
Water Act Update
The Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resources Operations and Rural Development, the ministry in charge of approving Section 11 approvals under the Water Sustainability Act, have notified us that they had increases to staffing capacity approved and, coupled with new guidelines to support the completion of high quality, complete applications, expect that the approval backlog will be substantially reduced or eliminated within a year.
Building Code Update
New updates to the B.C. Building and Plumbing Code (B.C. Building Code) support innovative construction methods to help build more affordable homes faster, while enhancing building standards for energy efficiency and safety for British Columbians. |

The Canadian Home Builders' of British Columbia is holding its annual open house for 2019. This is an excellent opportunity to view new additions to the office and meet with provincial staff and Executive Board members. We encourage attendants to bring nonperishable food items as a donation for the local food bank.
