AMERICANS ARE PAYING MORE THIS INDEPENDENCE DAY

Thanks to Biden's failed economic policies, groceries for Independence Day have increased more than 16% this year. This is a far cry from last year when the White House bragged that Americans would save 16 cents. I wonder if Biden will take credit for this increase, too? For those hopping in their car to travel, these high prices are in addition to record-high gas prices seen at the pump.

THE LAW OF THE LAND

The United States Supreme Court released three landmark decisions over the past week that restore the God-given rights granted to all Americans under our Constitution. I am grateful for a system of checks and balances that allows for judicial review of prior decisions, and I am grateful that the majority of Justices believe in the legitimacy of our founding documents and their original interpretation.

On Thursday, the court struck down a New York law restricting Americans’ ability to carry concealed weapons in public. The Second Amendment clearly states, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Full stop. Americans should never have to demonstrate “proper cause” to exercise their Constitutional rights outside their homes. This decision ensures all law-abiding Americans can defend themselves and their families without government interference.

On Friday, the court returned the power to protect the unborn back to the states where it should have been all along. This historic decision overturned the unconstitutional right to an abortion, a devastating error from the Roe v. Wade ruling in 1972 that has robbed the lives of over 60 million babies in the 50 years since. While there is still more work to be done, I am grateful to represent and reside in the most pro-life state in the nation. My family has been beyond blessed through the miracle of adoption and it’s an honor to continue fighting for the sanctity of life.

This past Monday, the nation saw a huge win for our First Amendment rights and our religious freedoms. The court ruled that Coach Joe Kennedy, a high school football coach from Washington, had the Constitutional right to pray on the school field after football games. As the Far-Left attempts to erode the moral fabric of our nation, I stand with those who fight to protect and uphold it.

With each of these decisions, we are moving closer to the nation our forefathers envisioned when writing our laws. This was a historic week for our country and a great reminder that our Constitutional rights will always prevail.

THE BIDEN BORDER CRISIS IS GETTING WORSE

President Biden has failed our country when it comes to protecting our southern border. The Supreme Court's decision today enables President Biden to end President Trump's "Remain in Mexico" program which required asylum-seekers to await their court hearings outside the U.S. This decision comes in aftermath of the tragic deaths of 51 migrants who attempted to cross the border illegally in the back of a semitruck. This devastating loss of life sends a clear message that the Biden Administration's open border agenda is a disaster that puts people's lives in danger.

GREAT NEWS FOR THE MUSKOGEE VA

I am thrilled to hear the United States Veterans’ Affairs has allowed the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee to remain open. This is incredible news for the 52,000 veterans in Eastern Oklahoma who rely on the facility for their primary care. We will never be able to fully repay our incredible veterans for their service, but we can least take the proper steps to ensure they have access to the best quality care possible.

ALZHEIMER'S AWARENESS MONTH

As June comes to a close, we must continue the national conversation about brain health and raise awareness to improve health care outcomes. Currently, there are over six million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. Anyone who is impacted by Alzheimer’s understands the gravity of this disease and the hardship endured by both the individual and the loved ones surrounding them. I want to express my gratitude to those in Oklahoma who work every day to advance research and improve the lives of those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. This disease takes and takes some more, and I am grateful for those who keep giving so one day this is no longer the case. May we remember to never stop striving in our efforts to find a cure and end Alzheimer’s together.
