Friend, in the wake of horrific mass shootings in Uvalde, Buffalo and more, Congress has finally taken action with a bipartisan law that implements some of the commonsense reforms that most Americans support, like expanded background checks.

But even this bill only had 64 votes – just above the minimum needed to pass federal legislation in the Senate. The other 36 GOP senators were probably too scared of losing their gun-lobby support to vote for it – even if it would save lives.
