Dear Mr. xxxxxx:
As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, I know many of you are busy with holiday plans. So, I just wanted to send a very quick update on a very busy, momentous and impactful June.
Broadband Symposium
June started out with me hosting a broadband symposium at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. This was an opportunity for internet providers and state leaders to see how far we have come in expanding access to high-speed internet, and also to see the work we still need to do to get everyone connected. The USDA Under Secretary for Rural Development, Xochitl Torres Small, (on right in photo) joined us, as well as Nivory Gordon, Jr., (on left in photo), who is the USDA Alabama Rural Development Director. The USDA is where I helped create the ReConnect program in 2018 with the help of then Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and President Trump.

Supreme Court
Without a doubt, it was the United States Supreme Court that made the most news in June. Thanks to the three appointments made to the court by President Trump, the court has clearly moved back in the direction the Founding Fathers intended, for the Court to interpret the Constitution and the law, not to make law on its own.
The court made a ruling that upheld the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and also a ruling that protected a football coach's 1st Amendment right to religious freedom and expression.
But by far, the biggest ruling was in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. which overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling. Despite what you've probably heard in the national news media, this ruling does not ban abortions. Instead, it allows the issue to be decided by state legislatures. But, we have already seen activist judges in some states step in and try to defy state lawmakers. So, the fight to protect the unborn goes on, as strong as ever.

Here is a video I recorded of my reaction to the Supreme Court's ruling in the Dobbs case.

Happy 4th of July
I hope you all have a safe and happy Independence Day weekend. And I hope you will remember how blessed we are in this country for our freedoms. This quote below from John Adams is something for us all to keep in mind.
May God bless you and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Robert B. Aderholt
