Happy Independence Day!     Celebrating and Protecting America Happy Independence Day weekend! This weekend, and every weekend, I am thankful for those who have fought, and continue to fight, for us to live in the most free and prosperous country in history. This week, Congresswoman Stefanik and I introduced the Promoting Agriculture Safeguards and Security (PASS) Act which will protect our national security by preventing foreign adversaries from taking any ownership or control of the United States’ agriculture industry. As a response to reports of China threatening America’s food supply by acquiring U.S. farmland and agriculture companies, this bill will ensure the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is fully involved in reviewing our foreign adversaries’ acquisition of American companies that may affect our agriculture sector. Adversarial nations, like China, continue to threaten our homeland, using tactics like buying American agriculture companies and stealing agriculture research to undermine our economy. Washington must realize that agriculture security is national security, and we have a duty to protect our food supply and those who produce it. I’m proud to work with Rep. Stefanik to draw attention to this critical threat and seek to defend American agriculture.     No votes this week. The House will be in session on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.     This week, I spoke in West Memphis to celebrate the new Arkansas PBS tower. This becomes the eighth signal to air Arkansas PBS programming and is part of a $6.4 million project funded by the federal CARES Act which was passed by Congress to provide COVID-19 assistance. After the project is completed, coverage will extend to nearly 96% of Arkansas. Also this week, Senator Boozman and I met with USDA Forestry Service staff to help address safety challenges with broken elevators at Blanchard Springs Caverns. The Senator and I are dedicated to holding USDA accountable and getting the caves reopened.   Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Arkansas abortion ban in force U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford of Jonesboro said anti-abortion activists had worked for decades to overturn Roe. "[It] does represent the culmination of -- for many -- their life's work," he added. UALR Public Radio Arkansas PBS adds additional signal to expand coverage area U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford, a Republican of Arkansas’ 1st District, said the pandemic showed the need to have statewide coverage. “We had some educational issues that we needed to rely on organizations like Arkansas PBS to be a partner in educating our young people, and so they became sort of a force multiplier for when we were shutting down schools,” Crawford said. “We said, we’re going to have to rely on Alternative Methods of Instruction and we leaned on Arkansas PBS to fill that void, but not everybody was served because there wasn’t universal coverage across the state.”   Rep.
