Dear John --

Keeping people safe should be the Government’s top priority.

Unfortunately what's clear to me is how difficult the police's job has become because of Government cuts - £600 million in cuts to the MET budget in the last four years with another £325 million of cuts planned by 2021.

We’re already feeling the impact. We’ve lost 3,000 community police officers and most police station counters in London, and response times are getting slower.

It still makes me feel sick that up until recently the Tories claimed there was no link between police cuts and knife crime hitting the highest number on record.

We cannot keep people safe on the cheap so if re-elected I will continue to press for:

✅ 20K more police officers - extra two officers per ward.

✅ Fund an immediate 2% pay-rise for serving police officers.

✅ Invest £500m in youth services.

For the past 5 years I have been campaigning against police cuts. Sutton is still one of the safest boroughs in London and I want to keep it this way.

Best wishes,

Tom Brake
