This month's meeting has been moved back a week due to the "holiday". Additionally, this meeting has been converted into a general membership meeting, where we will be voting on the following: California State Assembly Districts 14, 15, 16, 18, and 24; Congressional Districts 8, 10, 12, and 14; and a proposed term limits ballot measure for the City of Oakland.
In order to be eligible to vote, you must be 14-35 years old, have attended at least one EBYD meeting or event from July 12, 2021 to June 20, 2022, and have paid your annual dues.
Berkeley Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA)
Last year, EBYD endorsed Berkeley's TOPA. Today, it is on the edge of being brought in front of the Berkeley City Council!
As described on Yes 2 TOPA's website, "TOPA empowers tenants with options when the property they live in is going to be sold. Tenants can purchase the property or assign rights to a qualified organization (QO), such as a community land trust, nonprofit housing developer or cooperative. Tenants will be able to explore different ownership options (limited equity homes, condos, cooperatives, etc.) as well as choose to remain renters at an affordable rate."
You can support TOPA by signing this petition, sending an email to the mayor and council members, and sharing Yes 2 TOPA's social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

"Abortion care IS health care. It was so before this. And it will remain so after this. We don't care what a far-right extremist Supreme Court that is in a crisis of legitimacy says. Your racist, sexist, classist, ruling won't stop us from accessing the care we need." - Representative Cori Bush
