John, have you seen the news out of Louisiana?
The United States Supreme Court has just blocked the implementation of a remedial map that would have allowed Black voters in Louisiana the ability to elect their candidate of choice in two congressional districts. Although nearly a third of the population is Black, Louisiana will only have one out of six majority black districts.
As if partisan gerrymandering wasn’t bad enough, conservative legislatures have gerrymandered maps that disenfranchise voters of color. Louisiana is just one example, Republicans are pushing their manipulated maps until they find the ruling they like in states across the country:
- In Louisiana, a district court judge ruled that these Republican maps violated the VRA and needed a second majority-black district. The U.S. Supreme Court reinstated it.
- In Alabama, a federal court struck down the Republican Legislature’s congressional map, saying that “black voters have less opportunity than other Alabamians to elect candidates of their choice." The Supreme Court reinstated this one too.
- In Florida, a circuit court judge ruled that Ron DeSantis’ congressional map violated the constitution because “it diminishes African Americans’ ability to elect candidates of their choice.” It was the Florida State Supreme Court that let this map slip through.
Conservatives will keep creating these unfair, segregated maps to help them win elections. We will continue fighting back against unfair maps, in and out of court, but we need your help. Can we count on your donation to support our cause?

For decades, people of color have been excluded and alienated by the redistricting process. The Republican drawn maps in Louisiana continue this trend -- packing and cracking voters of color in districts to marginalize their political influence.
At All On The Line, we want fair and representative maps. Maps that do not value one political party over the other. Maps that do not isolate and marginalize specific communities. Maps that will lead to competitive elections. The Republican drawn maps in Louisiana do none of these things.
We need your continued support -- make a donation to support our fight against gerrymandered maps. What has happened in Louisiana cannot become a norm across the rest of the nation.
