Diesel Costs are Skyrocketing in CT, Not Just Temperatures

"New Tax Ned" Lamont Celebrates the 4th with a New Tax

Hartford, CT - Today, Governor Lamont’s 23% diesel fuel tax increase went into effect.

"Following weeks of anti fuel-tax rallies and calls from leaders on both sides of the aisle, Ned Lamont is choosing to pile new taxes onto Connecticut families and businesses," Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Ben Proto said. “CT taxpayers are not just feeling the heat of summer: despite Joe Biden & DC Democrats' inflation tax & economic crisis hurting Americans’ pocketbooks more than ever, Lamont is turning up the heat on Connecticut residents and businesses. Effective today, Democrats are instituting a 23% diesel tax hike that will hit CT's working and middle class families hardest- along with our small businesses."

“Is this the beginning of the end? I’m shocked that this is the first action he has taken that was not entirely centered on the upcoming election, I'm surprised the governor hasn't tried another election year gimmick, but I guess he can't hide his obsession for new (regressive) taxes," said Proto. “Every good and service will now be priced higher- this is a tax on all of us. This November, Connecticut voters will be voting with their wallets - or at least what is left of them after Joe Biden and Ned Lamont's economic failure.”
