TAKE ACTION: House of Representatives votes this week on HRes326 Dear Supporter, We just learned that the House of Representatives is voting this week on H.Res.326, a resolution supporting a negotiated two-state outcome to the Israeli-Palestinian issue. American Muslims for Palestine takes no position on this matter. However, we are concerned that this resolution waters down US opposition to Israeli military occupation and colonization of Palestinian land. And passing a resolution supporting Palestinian statehood without actually pressuring Israel to allow for Palestinian sovereignty is pointless and counterproductive. That’s why we need you to pick up the phone right now and call your Representative about this resolution. Unfortunately we could not identify your Representative. Please find contact info here: [ https://www.house.gov/ ] When someone answers, please ask if your Representative is planning to vote for or against the resolution, or if they will be abstaining. Ask why they are planning to vote this way.
After you call, please let us know how it went. Earlier this week, AMP sent this memo to each Representative detailing our concerns with the resolution. Please check it out if you’d like more background info for your call. We’ve also recently shared this memo with Members of Congress with our ideas for concrete steps they can take right now to pressure Israel to end its illegal colonization of Palestinian land.
