Hi,

The Supreme Court's far right majority just keeps on handing down
extremist decisions that throw out decades of precedent. Their latest
outrage: they just undermined the Environmental Protection Agency's
ability to regulate carbon emissions. Their decision also opens the door
for a wider attack on the federal government's ability to regulate big
corporations.

We're in an extreme climate crisis—just a few weeks ago, atmospheric
carbon dioxide reached the highest level on record—and the Supreme Court
is siding with polluters against legal protections for people and
planet.^1

As America reels from their decisions overturning Roe v. Wade, eroding the
separation of church and state, and throwing out century-old gun laws,
it's clearer than ever: Congress must expand the Supreme Court. Will you
add your name in this urgent moment?

The court was already on a roll of denying that federal agencies have
standing to protect the American people. The EPA ruling is the most absurd
and repugnant ruling yet. The Supreme Court has effectively denied the
EPA's right to carry out its original mandate set out in the Clean Air Act
of 1970: to regulate air pollution and protect human life.^2

The radical right Supreme Court is sabotaging our national institutions
and our global future. Fortunately, Congress has the power to add seats to
the Supreme Court and rebalance an institution that’s been packed with
right-wing jurists backed by corporate funders such as the Koch Brothers.

There's not a moment to lose: Congress must pass legislation to rebalance
the Supreme Court now, before Republicans have the chance to secure a
Congressional majority in the midterms.

Since last Thursday alone, Demand Progress has mobilized more than 80,000
messages to Congress urging them to expand the Supreme Court. We've
mobilized more than 200,000 messages to Congress on this since the
beginning of the year.

It's obvious to everyone now that this court is out of control and must be
stopped. Expanding the Supreme Court is constitutional, it's happened
before, and it's crucial to stopping the radical right takeover of our
courts and our country!
