Today we?re reporting a total of 1,168 additional positive COVID-19 cases and 814 additional recoveries for June 25-July 1. Today?s report includes 1,130 current cases and 38 older cases newly reported to the health district.
Sadly, we report one additional death today:
- A male, age range 71-80, passed away June 11. He had pre-existing medical conditions and was fully vaccinated.
To date, 716,271 tests have been administered in Galveston County.

As of July 1, there have been 7,728 breakthrough cases in Galveston County. That?s about 3.7 percent breakthrough. More than 207,304 Galveston County residents are fully vaccinated.
As of June 30, there are six Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) COVID-19 positive cases reported in Galveston County. For more information, please call 713-767-3000 or 211.
To date, a total of 20,939 probable cases have been reported for Galveston County. As stated previously, probable cases are reported separate from confirmed cases. A92 probable case means a person tested positive for antigens or antibodies and also met the probable case definition from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Probable cases are not included in the county's confirmed case count because an antibody test and antigen test are not lab confirmed PCR tests.
