Twelve months ago, conservation voters like you helped change Maine’s political landscape, electing new environmental champions and creating a window of opportunity to begin addressing the impacts of climate change on our state. Today, we’re asking for your support to help us keep this incredible momentum going.

The year 2019 will be remembered as a turning point. A year of groundbreaking new policies to advance renewable energy, cut carbon pollution, clean up our waters, and protect our communities. A year when Maine returned to the national spotlight in a positive way — passing the first in the nation ban on Styrofoam and a statewide ban on single-use plastic bags.

This year is just the beginning of the incredible things we can and must accomplish together. As we head into 2020, MCV is working to implement new policies to put our state on the path to 100% clean energy, reduce toxic chemicals and plastic pollution, and protect our land, water, and health — all in a fair and equitable way. Together, we have the power to continue this extraordinary momentum for environmental progress.

When the state legislature reconvenes in January, you can count on MCV to be your eyes and ears at the State House in Augusta, working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, and allies, partner organizations, and community members across the state to push for an equitable clean energy transition, clean water, and important funding for the Land for Maine’s Future program.

And when the legislature wraps up, we’ll compile MCV’s annual Environmental Scorecard so members like you know exactly how well your legislators stood up for your values. Having the tools and knowledge to hold them accountable is a massive boost to your power as a constituent.
