Request for Information
ODEP is seeking information from the public regarding a supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS) on disability employment topics, which will be conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau in collaboration with the Department?s Chief Evaluation Office and is expected to be fielded in 2024. The Department is publishing this Request for Information (RFI) to gather comments to aid in revising the CPS Disability Supplement and inform its general disability employment research agenda. Individuals and/or organizations with an interest in this subject are encouraged to review the RFI and provide comments.

ADA Anniversary
This month marks the 32nd anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, landmark civil rights legislation signed on July 26, 1990, that works to increase equity and inclusion for people with disabilities across all aspects of American society, including employment. ?The signing of the ADA was a milestone moment in America?s ongoing quest for a more inclusive, equitable society, and it underpins our work in the Office of Disability Employment Policy,? said Taryn M. Williams, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy. ?Through policy development, outreach and technical assistance, we help workers and employers use the benefits and protections the law enables to build more diverse, inclusive, equitable and accessible workforces.?

Request for Information on Current Population Survey Disability Supplement 2024
The Department of Labor is seeking information from the public regarding a supplement to the Current Population Survey on disability employment issues, which will be conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau; it is expected to be fielded in 2024. EAPA?s contributions to its message and what Employee Assistance Professionals can do to get involved.
SEED Partner Promotes Disability Employment Policy to Women State Legislators
Last week, the State Exchange on Employment & Disability collaborated with Women In Government on a state ?Bill Share? session highlighting disability employment policy during the WIG National Legislative Conference in Denver, CO. SEED presented along with legislative champion Rep. Bridget Walsh Moore (MO), who shared policy examples and legislation she has led in Missouri to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The session informed women legislators from across the country, as well as public and private sector stakeholders, about SEED, and best and promising policies and practices on disability employment.

Upcoming Webinar: State Settlements and Competitive Integrated Employment - Rhode Island's Story
In celebration of the anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the July Employment First Community of Practice will feature a closer look at Rhode Island, and how their support for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) has grown since its 2014 settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice. Speakers will include those on the ground in Rhode Island who helped transform the states' Employment Services, as well as a conversation with those currently leading the states CIE efforts. The event will also host Rhode Island workers who benefitted from the settlement.
