2020 GOPAC Emerging Leader and state Senator Jen Kiggans secured the Republican nomination in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District. Jen is a state Senator, geriatric nurse practitioner, U.S. Navy veteran, mother, and Navy wife. She will be facing Democrat incumbent Elaine Luria in this district in November.

Barb Kirkmeyer - Colorado's 8th Congressional District

2021 GOPAC Emerging Leader and state Senator Barb Kirkmeyer was declared the winner of a four-way primary for the Republican nomination in Colorado's 8th Congressional District. The race to represent this newly formed district representing the north side of the Denver metro area and into northern Colorado will be one of the most contested races in the country.

12th Annual Emerging Leaders Summit

This week, GOPAC hosted the 12th Annual Emerging Leaders Summit in Santa Barbara, California. The prestigious GOPAC Emerging Leaders Program is a year-long initiative to educate the next generation of Republican legislators. The Program equips these legislators with information to help legislate more effectively and ultimately achieve leadership roles within their state or run for higher office. Nominated by legislative leadership in their state, these legislators have demonstrated promise in positively impacting their state and rising within the Republican ranks.

More than one million voters switch to GOP in warning for Dems

A political shift is beginning to take hold across the U.S. as tens of thousands of suburban swing voters who helped fuel the Democratic Party's gains in recent years are becoming Republicans.

More than one million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press. The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country - Democratic and Republican states along with cities small towns - in the period since President Joe Biden replaced former President Donald Trump.

Did you know there are approximately 16,000 Independence Day fireworks displays that take place each year? America's 4th of July tradition is a bit of a loud one but this custom dates back to 1777.

The tradition of setting off fireworks on the 4th of July began in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, during the first organized celebration of Independence Day. Ship's cannon fired a 13-gun salute in honor of the 13 colonies. That same night, the Sons of Liberty set off fireworks over Boston Common.

Numbers to Know

Two out of three Americans say recent increases in gasoline are causing them hardship, according to a Gallup poll conducted in June.

The survey, taken between June 1 and June 20, showed that 67% are experiencing hardship, up from 52% in April. The percent of Americans who say this hardship is severe jumped to 22% from 14%.
