Wishing You a Happy 4th of July! |
Chairman Kyle Hupfer speaks on this past Sunday's edition of All INdiana Politics on Governor Holcomb's call for a special session to return $1 billion to Hoosiers. (June 26, 2022) |
Last year, on this exact day, the Biden White House tweeted about how American families would save an astounding $0.16 on their annual Fourth of July cookout compared to 2020, according to an annual survey conducted by American Farm Bureau. Well, this Monday, American Farm Bureau released the results of the 2022 survey. As you can probably imagine, American families won't be saving $0.16 this year. In fact, they'll be paying $10.18 more — $69.68 compared to $59.50 last year, or a 17 percent increase.
Two pounds of ground beef will cost $11.12, up 36 percent from last year; three pounds of center-cut pork chops will cost $15.26, up 31 percent from last year; 2.5 quarts of fresh-squeezed lemonade will cost $4.43, up 22 percent; and perhaps worst of all, a half gallon of vanilla ice cream will cost $5.16, up 10 percent!
There's no doubt that Hoosiers and all Americans are feeling the squeeze of Bidenflation this summer. And while the White House's only solutions are to double-down on the same policies that put us in the position and shift blame onto others, Republicans in the Indiana legislature are acting to return $1 billion of your money back to your pockets that will help ease the burden of increased costs. Even though our country is facing hard times, there is still so much to celebrate. America, more than any other nation, represents the promise of freedom, hope, and opportunity for all. Enjoy this week’s newsletter, share it with a friend, and may God bless America. Sincerely, |

Announcing READI Projects Are on the Move |
|
|
Yesterday, Governor Eric Holcomb and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers announced that quality of place projects and programs are beginning to move forward across the state through the transformational Indiana Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is on track to designate 40 percent – or $200 million – of the initiative’s grant funds to projects and programs in 10 regions by the end of July and expects to designate the remaining $300 million in all 17 regions by the end of the year, accelerating shovel-ready projects and programs that are expected to transform Indiana communities, attract talent and improve the quality of life in the short and long term.
“Innovation knows no boundaries and that there’s no limit to what can be accomplished when we work together to better the lives of Hoosiers,” said Gov. Holcomb. “This transformative program is funding projects that lean into a region's strengths while building community gathering places, inclusive parks for kids, performing arts center and trails that will have generational impact across each region and every person who visits our great state. In Indiana, there is no greater priority for us as leaders than to work together closely to improve Indiana’s standing as the best location to live, work and thrive.”
The IEDC announced funding awards in December, allocating READI’s $500 million to 17 regions across the state that represent all of Indiana’s 92 counties. Collectively, the state’s investment is expected to yield an additional $9.86 billion public, private, and nonprofit dollars invested (19.72:1 investment leverage ratio) in enhancing Indiana’s regions for current and future generations of Hoosiers. |
Announcing Construction is Underway on the South Shore Double Track Project |
A lot happened last week! We wanted to make sure you didn't miss this.
Last Monday, Governor Eric Holcomb announced construction is moving forward on one of the largest public transit investments in Indiana’s history – double tracking of the South Shore Line from Michigan City to Gary.
This project, a prominent piece of Gov. Holcomb’s Next Level Agenda, adds nearly 18 miles of new track over a 26-mile corridor along the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District’s existing South Shore Line between Gary and Michigan City and makes multiple improvements to the existing line.
“The Double Track Project is transformative for Northwest Indiana and the positive impacts will be felt across the state for generations to come,” Gov. Holcomb said. “This game changing project is another prime example of how Indiana is laser-focused on connecting people and businesses to our state’s exceptional quality of life, great communities, and pro-growth business environment.”
In addition to the Double Track project, Gov. Holcomb has made the West Lake Corridor extension of the South Shore Line a Next Level Agenda priority. Combined, the Double Track and West Lake Corridor projects are projected to attract approximately $2.7 billion in private investment to Northwest Indiana, and result in over 6,000 new jobs and $5 billion in economic impact by 2048. |

A Day to Celebrate the American Promise |
From National Review (July 4, 2021):
July 4, 1776, is the birthdate of the United States of America. Now, more than ever, it should be celebrated for that, but also as something more: the greatest single day for human liberty in the history of the world.
The birthdate of the United States, long settled, is contested today by radicals: Should we celebrate it, or mourn it? Should we instead center the founding of our nation in its worst moments, not its best? Of course, America was conceived, was born, and matured in stages. The history of the American people dated to Jamestown in 1607, and our self-government to the first Virginia House of Burgesses in 1619 and the Mayflower Compact in 1620. Our separation from Britain began at Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, and was not completed until November 25, 1783, when the British evacuated occupied Manhattan. The full promise of America was longer in the achieving, and is never an entirely completed project.
But consider that phrase: “the promise of America.” No other nation, before July 4, 1776, was founded on a promise. No other polity could be called to fulfill its founding ideals, because no other polity had any. States had rationalizations, and in some cases guiding faiths, but they did not have statements of principles.
