In the ’80’s a particular kind of movie arose.  The films were always set in a school of some sort and always featured a group of misfits.  The first half of the film was devoted to showing just how misfit the misfits were.  Then there would be some sort of tribunal in which the misfits were put on trial for the crime of being misfits.  This, of course, built great sympathy for the misfits who then, “convicted” of being misfit would engage in some sort of wild revenge plot ultimately shaming the apparently normal folk and having the school’s administration crown the misfits in some fashion.  The movies were odd because they were all about social convention.  Generally, nobody actually did anything really wrong or evil – a lot of pranks, lot of...
