Friend, I know people across the country are
reeling from the devastating consequences of the far-right
Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Like many of you, I am
bracing myself for the terrible stories of women who will be
denied abortions in the weeks, months, and years to come.
I see the pain and rage of so many – and I’m angry too. This
decision went against our very democracy and against the will of
the American people.
This decision was not a fluke nor an accident. It was part of a
calculated and organized effort to rob women of their right to
bodily autonomy.
While we cannot fix this problem in the immediate – we must
urgently amplify our organizing and electoral efforts to support
marginalized people, win important elections, and send leaders to
Washington who will actually fight for the issues we care about.
Look, I’ll be honest – I can’t fix abortion
rights by myself. But if we win this race, we’ll stop another
far-right anti-abortion politician from getting into Congress,
where he will no doubt support calls to ban abortions nationwide.
And that’s a start.
