It has been a very difficult few weeks. We have seen one bad decision after another come from the Supreme Court. So I wanted to give you an update on the impact recent decisions from the United States Supreme Court will have on our nation:

➔ Just today, the Supreme Court has announced it will consider a case that could give state legislatures sole control over our right to free and fair elections.

➔ Earlier this year, SCOTUS allowed the use of an unfair map that packs Black Alabama voters into a single congressional district and robs them of the opportunity to elect a representative of their choice in TWO districts. The court will not be issuing a final decision until after this year’s election which means Alabamians will have to vote on unconstitutional maps this fall.

➔ Earlier this week, the Supreme Court put a hold on a district court’s decision to block the use of Louisiana’s congressional map that violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. This delay is forcing Louisianans to vote on unfair maps just like their neighbors in Alabama.

All On The Line and fair map advocates are committed to keep fighting for fair maps in and outside of court. Chip in a few bucks towards our June end-of-month goal to help us keep going. Every dollar counts towards our $25,000 goal!

The first three decisions I mentioned just impacted fair maps directly. Now let’s talk about Dobbs.

The conservative majority decided to overturn our federal protections for reproductive rights and have now kicked our reproductive rights to state legislatures. The very state legislatures that we have been working for years to hold accountable and who could now have sole control of fair maps.

Now tens of millions have immediately lost their right to an abortion thanks to trigger laws in 13 states -- like Texas where the state legislature is egregiously gerrymandered.

The majority of this court has shown time after time that the court will protect the ideology of the few over the rights of the many. This is where our state-by-state and multi-pronged approach comes into play.

➔ We are committed to holding extremist state legislators who have or will ban abortion accountable through our on-the-ground volunteer and advocacy work.
➔ We will continue to support the fair maps movement in courts across the country.
➔ Most of all, we are committed to continuing this fight year after year to ensure our maps and elections are fair.
