Our FEC fundraising deadline is just a few short hours away, and I want to explain why we’re asking for your donation right now.
The Supreme Court is killing America, taking away human rights like the right to have an abortion, the right to have clean air, and our freedom to vote. Asking for your small-dollar donation may seem like too little right now, but winning reelection is the only way we will be able to keep a progressive bloc in our House of Representatives to fight back against these attacks.
Together, we can channel our outrage into action and make sure we have the votes needed to push back against the far right. That’s why we’re asking for a huge favor — can you make a contribution tonight to help power our reelection effort?
Already, we’re seeing how important it is to keep organizing our progressive movement. President Biden was reluctant to take action after SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade, but after immense public pressure (including by my colleague and sister, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as my friend Sen. Elizabeth Warren) he has come out in favor of getting rid of the filibuster in the Senate to codify Roe as the law.
We have to do more. I’m calling on our leaders to impeach Clarence Thomas and any other Justice who lied under oath. We’re going to fight like hell to codify abortion rights. But we can only achieve any of this by protecting and expanding the power of progressives within the Democratic party. Without that, we’re stuck with a complacent establishment and inaction.
In our campaign, we’re facing establishment-backed opponents who will be another roadblock to aggressive action against this extremist Supreme Court. So I’m asking if you can chip in whatever you can before our FEC deadline at midnight, to help our movement win reelection and keep me in the fight.
Reaching this $100,000 goal will ensure that we can defeat our establishment opponent and fight like hell to defend our rights. The stakes could not be higher.
If we successfully expand our Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate and protect our seat here in NY-16 we can finally kill the filibuster. That means we can then finally codify the right to an abortion, as well as the other rights the Supreme Court is coming after, like the right to contraception and the right to gay marriage.
It’s a tough fight, but we know what we have to do — now we just have to do it. If you can make a contribution before our deadline tonight it will help fund that work.
