There’s no question that right now, our country is facing a crisis. Just last week, Missouri was the very first state to completely outlaw abortions, even in cases of rape or incest, leaving many local providers scrambling in an effort to ensure critical healthcare and reproductive care to people in need throughout our region.
As the wife of a physician and the mother of a nurse, I know personally how hard these decisions impact those seeking care and those providing it. It may even feel like the work we do means nothing in the face of the opposition’s ability to manipulate our system to achieve what they want.
But I’m asking you to believe that we can make a difference . We can fight back, and we can win. And we can do what is needed to protect the rights of those affected by the callous and misguided decision to strike down Roe .
Extremism must be stopped everywhere. From the highest halls of justice, to the office of every single elected official who purports to represent you—we must stand up and demand that our rights be respected.
I am honored to be in the fight with you and pledge to use my voice and my position to do just that. Thank you so much for your support and your fellowship.
