There’s no doubt that we have a lot at stake in 2022 — not just here in Georgia, but across the country. It’s clear that the institutions that we look to to represent the people have failed us — and that’s by design. But with the midterms this year, we have a chance to change the way our democracy is run — and who it works for.
We do not believe that all of the answers to the current moment lie in voting. But the truth is that if we give up and don’t vote, we’re abandoning a very important avenue to make change — and we abandon communities who are directly impacted by the decisions their representatives make.
Pure and simple, elections have consequences, and we must vote accordingly.
In 2020, we saw candidates running on platforms of trying to restrict access to the ballot and election denial, some of whom won their respective races. The impact of the choices some voters made then is evident now, as voters face needless obstacles to accessing the ballot box.
Across the country, promoters of Trump’s Big Lie and conspiracy theorists are vying for positions from the top of the ticket all the way down the ballot. In states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, the people who sought to overturn election results and backed policies that suppress Black and brown voters are now running for office themselves, looking to make decisions on election outcomes.
As we enter the next phase of the 2022 midterms — with reproductive freedom, gun safety, and voting rights all on the ballot, Fair Fight is laser-focused on protecting the right to vote and dismantling the systemic voter suppression that is rooted in our election processes. We’re working from the ground-up to break down barriers to civic participation and create a truly representative democracy.
But, we rely on your support to do this critical work. Chip in $20 right now if you can — before our end-of-month fundraising deadline at midnight — to support Fair Fight’s efforts to combat voter suppression and give all eligible voters the opportunity to cast their ballot as we gear up for the midterms.
Thank you for everything,
The Fair Fight Team
