John, we’re approaching my most important quarterly fundraising deadline of the year in just a few hours, and we’re still not quite where we need to be.

Last week, the Philadelphia City Council voted to enact my budget proposal. Thanks to the new budget, taxes will decrease for our residents and small businesses, and a number of investments will be made to deliver solutions to our city’s ongoing gun violence epidemic and other matters of public safety.

Though transformative, these measures mark only the beginning of delivering the long-awaited progress that our city deserves. The wave of Republican extremism in Washington and Harrisburg is threatening to undo all of the progress we have made.
