Right now, Republicans in Congress and on the Supreme Court have one goal: undermine everything, remove all federal protections Americans rely on, and dismantle American democracy.

We are seeing it play out in real-time during the January 6th hearings. Trump and his cronies tried once to stage an insurrection against the American government. Now, the Supreme Court has [announced it will take up a case ]([link removed])that will make it easier for Trump and his loyalists to succeed the next time they try.

 

We are seeing it with the dismantling of a nearly 50-year protection for a woman’s right to choose.

 

We are seeing it with the attacks on legislation to fight the climate crisis and protect our communities from floods, fires, hurricanes, and more.

 

I have never been more concerned for the fate of American democracy throughout my life in public service than I am right now. We must be tough and fight back together.
