John, the campaign season has begun. The good, the bad, and the ugly of this time of year are on full display here in the Fifth District…
The good – is always you, John. It has been so affirming to get back out in the community and meet you at meetings, celebrations and kick-off events. YOU are why I do the work.
The bad – Nonpartisan analysts at the Cook Political Report have downgraded this race, believing a Republican flip is more possible. If this seat flips, Democrats will lose the House Majority – and with it, our ability to make progress on women’s healthcare rights, gun violence prevention, and so much more.
The ugly – National right-wing groups and outside dark money donors are working harder than ever to unseat me in November. They are already spending millions and blanketing our district with misleading ads about me designed to stir up fear, distrust and confusion. The RNC opened their first-ever Connecticut office right here in this district and Republican leadership is playing a heavy hand in this race.
Here’s the truth, John: We’ve got so much great work to communicate out. I voted for the legislation people asked for. I voted to get COVID vaccines out into communities so we could begin to recover. I responded to the requests of everyone from hospitals to first responders and frontline workers who were saying they needed relief and needed it now. I voted for legislation like desperately needed small business relief.
Because that’s what good government does – good government is there to help when we need it. So that’s what I did: I listened, I responded and I delivered.
My work in Washington has had a direct impact on my constituents in CT-05 – and THAT is what I’m campaigning on! We are ramping up our field organization to make sure I can communicate with voters directly and get the facts out.
But I cannot do it all alone, John. Will you consider making a donation to my re-election campaign before our big deadline at midnight tonight and join our fight for the Fifth?

It is all on the line. Thanks for being in the fight.
