We are going to Congress!

When we launched this campaign last December, I told a full room of supporters that this campaign was not about me, but about us. This campaign has always been about growing our progressive movement and willing into existence what is possible. This is OUR victory!

On Tuesday, Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District made it clear that our progressive and people-powered movement is stronger than the corporate interests that try to co-opt our democracy.

You made this victory possible. We knocked on over 100,000 doors, made 90,000 calls, and raised over $700,000 from over 2,300 individual donors without taking one cent from corporate PACs or bad actors. This is truly a grassroots victory and you made it happen.

What makes this victory special is that we did not do it alone. We built a strong coalition of progressive movement leaders in the Northwest Side of Chicago who challenged the status quo and business-as-usual politics of the past. I am incredibly proud of all our down-ballot victories and progressive slate who will continue the great work we have achieved in Illinois and who will bring transformative change to Cook County.

Here's the thing: we are just getting started. There is so much more work ahead and I look forward to continuing to roll up our sleeves and delivering for our communities, but we can only do it together.

Without a doubt, we celebrate our hard work and our amazing victories but we know elections are only one of the vehicles for change. For it to be sustainable, we must continue to organize and we have a lot of work left to do!
