"Iranian students barred from US: lost money, broken dreams, no answers"
-- October 14, 2019

Today is the second anniversary of the Supreme Court allowing Trump's travel ban to go into effect. It continues to be a hateful piece of legislation that has torn families apart, demonized an entire faith, and blocked countless Black Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen immigrants from entering the United States to seek education and opportunity in America.

Along with the ratification of the 13th Amendment and the kick-off of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the approval of the "Muslim Ban" is just one of three important anniversaries this week. Each of these moments reveal our country's long, racist history, and how far we still have left to go as a nation before creating a democracy that truly works for all of us.

It's hard to believe that Trump's racist and unpatriotic travel ban isn't making headlines every single day.

But it just goes to show how numb we are to the current administration's relentless attacks on people of color, immigrants, and marginalized communities.

We can't look away -- we have to remain vigilant if we're going to keep winning elections in 2020 and build the Black political power we so rightfully deserve. If you agree that to strengthen our democracy we need equal representation now, please add your name.

Thank you,
