North America was once covered in forests, but most of our older trees have been lost to logging. To make matters worse, ongoing timber sales and climate change are speeding up this loss.
Timber companies are still allowed to log in older forests. And with rising global temperatures come greater risk of wildfires, drought, extreme heat and invasive pests -- all events that can have profound impacts on some of our most biodiverse and healthy habitats.[1]
