Hi,

On Thursday, June 30th, the Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate carbon emissions from power plants. In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled that the EPA does not have the authority to use the Clean Air Act to limit the pollution from power plants which play a major role in harming our climate and threatening public health.

The Supreme Court’s alarming decision may have severely limited the EPA’s ability to act for now, but Congress can restore that power and enable our government to take the bold action on climate that most Americans desire.

Our elected leaders are accountable to us as citizens. Use our Vote Earth resources to register to vote, drive turnout, and advocate for your representatives to do their duty to protect the American people and the air, land, water, and climate we depend on.

Now more than ever, we need elected leaders who are willing and able to fight for our future. The midterm election this fall will be critical in ensuring effective leadership in Congress to turn the people’s vision for a strong, sustainable America into a reality. Many elections on the local and state level are already under way; these officials are on the front lines in protecting our health through sustainability and collectively make a huge impact in solving climate change.

A functioning democracy is essential to a functioning climate. We the people have the power to hold our government accountable and elect leaders who will prioritize a sustainable, prosperous future.

Engaged citizens are more important than ever — share this with your friends and family to unite the community.

Use your voice. Vote Earth.

In solidarity,

Kathleen Rogers.
