I've spent the last four years holding the oil and gas industry
accountable.

PCCC's work to elect climate champions?

I'm Stephanie Garcia Richard, New Mexico's public lands commissioner.
Today, the Supreme Court struck down a major regulation in the fight
against climate change and gutted the authority of the Environmental
Protection Agency.

This reckless and wrong decision makes it clear that this extremist Court
values industry's desire for no regulation over our freedom from pollution
and fighting climate change.

This decision puts more power in the hands of people like me -- but I
don't want that, because it also puts more power in the hands off
Republican state officials who are in the pocket of Big Oil.

I have authority over 13 million acres of state land and I've spent the
last four years holding the oil and gas industry accountable. I've taken
bad actors to court to force them to clean up their messes on state land.

Today's decision means that it is even more important that Democrats
maintain power on the state level. Especially positions with direct
authority to fight climate change and Big Oil.

campaign and the PCCC's work to elect climate champions?

I was thrilled to attend the PCCC's candidate training 4 years ago. It
helped me build the skills I needed to defeat a Republican funded by
millions in Big Oil and polluter money. It was inspiring to see so many
other candidates that the PCCC was supporting, and winning key elections
all across the nation is more important than ever.

The EPA was established in 1970 as a federal backstop for states unwilling
or unable to protect their citizens from bad actors and polluters.

The result of today's dangerous SCOTUS decision is that Americans all
across our country -- especially in Republican-controlled states -- will
be vulnerable to the lack of environmental regulations in their individual
states until and unless Congress undoes this damage.

Nothing in the Supreme Court's decision can prevent me from suing
companies unwilling to clean up oil spills and other pollutants, canceling
state leases with bad actors, and holding big polluters accountable.

Big Oil spent over $3.5 million trying to defeat me in 2018 -- and I won
with just 51% of the vote in a good year for Democrats. Now that they know
states have more power, they will stop at nothing to remove me from office
come November -- and defeat Democrats running for key positions
everywhere.

I need your help. So do others.
