Dear John,

We are disgusted. We are disappointed. We are outraged. But also, we are ready. We have been preparing for this moment and know that the fight for reproductive justice is far from over. You can read our statement on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision here

As we look towards a post-Roe future, we’re continuing to follow grassroots organizers and leaders on the ground who have been doing this work for decades. If you want to help, you can support abortion funds, listen to women and girls of color, and get involved in your community.

We will never achieve full equality if any person does not have complete bodily autonomy. In the words of grantee partner The Afiya Center, "everybody's got to fight now. You don't get to watch other people fight." We are so proud to do this work with such incredible partners, and with the support of all of you. We’ll be in this fight until the end.

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane
Chief Advancement Officer

Building the Fire Fund

New on our website - learn more about the Building the Fire Fund and its goal to support the creation of national infrastructure for and by Indigenous Women and birthing people in the reproductive justice movement.

This fund is housed at and staffed by the Ms. Foundation for Women, with its purpose and work led by an Advisory Council of Indigenous women from across Turtle Island representing many nations, organizations, and holding various pieces of work across the spectrum of Reproductive Justice. The Advisory Council released a statement on the Dobbs v. Jackson decision.

Ms. in the News

In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decision, President & CEO Teresa C. Younger spoke to Yahoo! Finance, theSkimm, ABC News, and more about our plan of action and priorities in the fight for abortion rights. She also penned a joint op-ed for Inside Philanthropy on how philanthropy is acting to meet this moment.

"Just because the decision happens doesn't mean that the work is just getting started. What we’re really looking at is how we make sure that we're providing organizations with the support they need," Teresa told theSkimm.

Ms. Foundation Program Officer Coya White Hat-Artichoker also spoke with Indian Country Today, providing insight on how it will affect Indigenous people/communities across the country. Dr. Corrine Sanchez and Rachael Lorenzo of the Building the Fire Fund Advisory Council were featured in the story as well.

“This decision by the Supreme Court that was released today is detrimental to our practice of sovereignty. Our belief that our women and birthing peoples can make decisions for themselves,” Dr. Sanchez said.

Save the Date: Ms. on Martha's Event

We’ll be back at Martha’s Vineyard on August 16 to catch up with friends, have a cocktail, learn what’s new at the Ms. Foundation, as we get into an engaging conversation about social justice. Get ready to join us!

Take Action: Sign Our Pledge

We drafted a philanthropic pledge to protect abortion and reproductive justice in collaboration with our colleagues and friends, including Funders for Justice, Funders for Reproductive Equity, Groundswell Fund and Women's Funding Network. The pledge asks individuals and organizations to focus on grassroots giving and multi-year investments.
