My friend...

Here's a quick update on what I've been working on during a busy few weeks in Washington, DC, Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn...
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE HILL
In Congress, I've been working to get the East Shore Seawall project back on track after years of delays under my predecessor. From funding to radiation removal, we're on track to have the first contract (the drainage portion) issued this year. The House passing my language securing funding for this project is the latest win.
American cities are under attack by criminals with no regard for the law and DAs who allow them to wreak havoc on our streets. Click below to learn more about my new legislation that would hold these DAs accountable and uphold law and order in our communities.
During a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, I called out the Biden Administration for its backward border policies that have created massive fentanyl, humanitarian and national security crises along our southern border.
IN THE DISTRICT
I’ve been working diligently with veterans’ organizations and House and Senate lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to stop the proposed closures of VA hospitals in New York City. The Senate’s commitment to block the AIR Commission’s recommendations is a key victory, however, we will continue to be vigilant and vocal and won’t stop working to protect these facilities until the President definitively says any proposal from the AIR commission is dead on arrival.
The Federal Navigation Channel in Great Kills Harbor hasn't been dredged in over eight years, causing headaches for recreational boaters in our community. I'm proud to have played a role in securing $6.75 million so the Army Corps can dredge the entirety of the channel, remove hazards, and create safer waters for our boaters while at the same time protecting against flooding in surrounding areas.
Right now, there are more than 81,000 missing Americans as a result of war and conflict around the world. I'm honored to display a POW-MIA Chair of Honor from Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 New York in my office as a permanent tribute to the brave men and women who've honorably served our nation overseas but never made it home.

Malliotakis Reminds Individuals to Check Passports as Agencies Return to Pre-Pandemic Staffing Levels
As of the beginning of June, passport agencies nationwide are returning to pre-pandemic staffing levels. While this will surely relieve some of the problems Americans have experienced with lack of responsiveness and delays, we anticipate that there will still be a backlog as agencies resume normal operations. I urge individuals to check their passports well in advance of any international travel to ensure that it is not expired and immediately complete an application or make an appointment if a new passport or renewal is required.
