Friend – As a gun violence prevention advocate, I had to reach out to you as soon as I got this breaking news:

In a year where there's been an explosion of mass shootings – more than 250 so far – last week the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that will INCREASE the number of concealed weapons in public spaces. More guns on the street means more lives lost, friend. 

I lost my daughter, Jaime, in the Parkland shooting. Someone who never should have had a gun in the first place murdered Jaime and 16 others – and my Jaime wasn't the last. This month alone, dozens upon dozens of people – including more children – have died from gun violence. What are our legislators doing?

I'm disgusted, friend, but I'm not deterred. I will never, ever give up on saving lives from gun violence. I can't get my Jaime back. I'll never see her dance or hear her laugh again – but I will go to the ends of the Earth to make sure that another parent – another family – doesn't have to feel the pain of losing a loved one to gun violence. 

The Supreme Court failed us last week, but we still have a change to right this wrong. If Val Demings wins her race in Florida, Democrats and gun safety champions will maintain a majority in the Senate – which means we would have enough votes to confirm Supreme Court justices who will rule in favor of gun violence prevention.

That's why I promised Val Demings that I would help her raise $30,000 before midnight to support her grassroots campaign, so I need every person reading this email to donate what they can right now. Will you give $5 to help me elect Val Demings, protect our Senate majority and shape the Supreme Court?
